Working for Courts
Jay worked with his fellow judges to establish and facilitate several Committees of stakeholders working on matters related to the administrative of justice in Orange and Chatham County Courts,
· Court facilities and functions
· Court users (including non-English speaking users)
· Procedural fairness
· Stakeholder relationships
· Courthouse security
· Evacuation policies
· DWI discovery
· Expungements and deferrals
· DNA samples
· Protecting victims of domestic violence
In addition to presiding over court, Jay was also been appointed to preside over Judicial Settlement Conferences to help parties and their attorneys reach agreements. He worked with teams in Recovery and Family Treatment Courts to establish approaches and policies supporting participants in recovery and increasing outcomes for living healthy and achieving successful lives.
Jay works as a technical consultant for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP). In this role he serves on a team that helps drug treatment courts across the country with their policies, procedures and best practices.
