As a Mediator
Jay began mediating cases in 2000. Since then, he has mediated cases in Superior Court Civil, Family and Clerk of Court matters in the following areas:
· Personal injury
· Property disputes and damage
· Partition
· Probate
· Guardianship
· Torts
· Custody
· Equitable distribution
· Alienation of affections
· Prenuptial agreements
· Government disputes
· Employment law
In the area of family law, he is certified as a civil custody Guardian ad Litem, with responsibilities that include visiting and talking with children, parents and collaterals in custody cases, and writing recommendations to the court for the well-being of the children.
As a certified Parenting Coordinator he worked with high-conflict parents to mediate, model, and resolve differences over custody and visitation, thereby reducing the impact on their children. He is also trained in collaborative law, where clients and attorneys work together face to face to successfully reach agreements on divorce and separation.
