Mediation

Mediation is a state approved, informal proceeding to help people in a filed lawsuit or a matter preceding the filing of a lawsuit. The neutral mediator creates a safe atmosphere for people to discuss their conflicts, explore options for settlement, and agree on settlement terms. Mediators open channels of communication and facilitate each side to see the pros and cons of their perspectives and interests. The process encourages people to be empowered to control the outcome of their disagreement and avoid protracted litigation.

  • Superior Court Civil matters,  including personal injury, where mediations are mandated

  • Family Law, including custody, visitation, equitable distribution, and PSS/alimony

  • Clerk of Court matters: probate, estates, guardianship, boundary disputes, and partition

  • Workers Compensation

  • Town/gown issues - University / Community relations
